If you were taking a variety of over-the-counter medicines before you become pregnant, it is best to ask your doctor or nurse whether or not it is safe to continue taking these medications now that you are pregnant. While some medicines are just fine, others can cause potential harm to your baby and you will need to stop taking them right away. For example an acid reducer to help with acid reflux or heartburn is generally fine, while taking too much Vitamin A may cause birth defects to your baby. 

Get Your Flu Shot

It is a good idea to get your flu shot no matter what, but if you are pregnant it is even more important. If you get the flu while you are pregnant, it can make you incredibly ill and can take quite a toll on your body. While this likely won't harm your baby, it can make life quite miserable for you. Most OB/GYN offices will provide flu shots when you go in for your prenatal appointments, making it very convenient for you to get your shot. Getting your flu shot takes a matter of seconds, and a quick poke and sore arm is definitely worth it to avoid the flu. 

Exercise Regularly With The Proper Modifications 

If you have a normal pregnancy, most doctors recommend that you continue the workout routine that you were doing before you became pregnant. However, as you get further along in your pregnancy, it is a good idea to make the proper modifications to ensure that you don't harm yourself or your baby. For example, you may need to lower the amount of weight that you lift, and you will need to stop doing ab workouts on your back to avoid adding too much pressure to your baby and your organs. The key is to listen to your body and do the best that you can do to remain physically active.
